Born into a family that bears a long line of dressmakers, Elsa Brodmann was raised in a New Orleans household that appreciated the finer points of fashions and fabrics. Her upbringing led her to pursue an academic interest in the industry. In 2002 she enrolled in the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, working in her off-time for famed jewelry designer Denise Heffernan. After graduating in 2006, she left for Chicago, where she worked as a freelance costume designer for local theater companies. In 2008, she returned to New Orleans to found Ottilie Brodmann, and was quickly recognized as a rising star in the local fashion scene. She was named one of New Orleans Magazine's People to Watch in 2009, and has hosted fashion segments on WGNO's Good Morning New Orleans. Currently she is working on the Spring/Summer Collection for 2012, while pursuing her MBA in an effort to enhance the business side of Ottilie Brodmann.
